Facts about the Amendment

The Health Care Freedom Amendment is a proposed amendment to the Kansas Constitution
that would preserve certain existing rights that individuals have regarding health care.

Two key provisions -

1) protects a person's right to participate or not participate in any health care system, and prohibits the government from imposing fines or penalties on that person's decision.
2) it protects the right of individuals to purchase-and the right of doctors to provide-lawful medical services without government fine or penalty.

This is not an attempt to "opt-out of" or "nullify" federal health insurance legislation. It is an attempt to protect the liberty of Kansas citizens to control their own medical affairs.

Community Defense Act - Statewide Regulation of Sexually Oriented Businesses

"Community Defense Act" (HB 2633), would institute statewide regulation of Sexually Oriented Businesses.
Currently, small towns are left to fend for themselves when a Sexually Oriented Business moves into town to set up shop. If these towns attempt to place constitutional restrictions upon these Sexually Oriented Businesses, such as where they may locate or how late they may operate, communities can find themselves slapped with high-dollar lawsuits that they cannot afford – but that the “adult” entertainment industry can.
Many communities simply do not have the resources to litigate these costly court battles, so the mere threat of legal action suffices to scare them into submission regardless of the validity of the suit.

The Community Defense Act will promote safe communities in Kansas by imposing constitutional time, place and manner regulations on existing and future Sexually Oriented Businesses thereby reducing the negative secondary effects on our communities.
By
signing the Petition you will be telling elected officials that you want them to vote in support of a constitutionally sound Sexually Oriented Business (SOB) Bill regulating existing and future SOBs with Kansas. Negative secondary effects include increased criminal activity, increased sexually transmitted diseases, decreased property values, increased drug trafficking and general blight. These proven negative secondary effects of Sexually Oriented Businesses on communities continue to be documented and upheld by the courts.

Pray for the Legislature PDF Print E-mail

Right now we need to ask for prayer for the current Legislative session.  One area of concern is that we find a new way to select our Supreme Court Justices.  Pray for the legislators as they write law, oversee hearings, and represent you that they will see their calling as from the Lord.  Pray for wisdom, persistence, and when they rest that they will be at peace.  This job is so demanding.  They need to know those of us back home are lifting them up in prayer.  Prayer changes things.  Kansas is the tip of the spear from the heart of the nation.  Our laws affect the rest of the nation.
